Asia Dickens

Owner/Director

Born and raised in Gary IN, Asia attended her first dance class at the local Boys and Girls Club. She later auditioned and was accepted at a prestigious performing arts school. While maintaining her academics, Asia worked diligently as a student while providing choreography for school shows and live performances for singer, dancer, & Broadway actor Chester Gregory.

Upon graduating from Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts, Asia continued her studies at the Alvin Ailey School in New York. In 2006, Asia developed her craft and found her niche for choreography, artist development, and dance consulting while working with recording artist Stephani Parker and her traveling live stage show.
During 2008, Asia began working as a full time dance instructor and rehearsal director for the highly acclaimed South Shore Dance Alliance, the same school where renowned dancer and former student Renaldo Maurice (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) also trained.

Asia is especially proud of her television debut in 2009 as a Made (dance) Coach on an episode of MTV’s MADE.

Completing three seasons with the NBA (2010-2013) Asia was a dancer for the six-time Champions Chicago Bulls, The Luvabulls.

In 2012, Asia's Dance Factory was founded. Upon its opening, ADF has been a source of inspiration and instruction for dancers both near and far. Through Asia's Dance Factory, Asia Dickens has provided choreography for several after school programs across the region including 5-star nationally rated Banneker Achievement Center and Top 20, Inc. Her students have performed during concerts for national recording artists including the hit group Mindless Behavior, Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Laila Hathaway, and Gary, IN viral stars Arch Duke. ADF has performed at the United Center 3 separate times for Chicago Bulls' home games. Her competition teams have also won Best Overall awards, scholarships, and invitations to nationals at several regional and out of state dance competitions.

In 2016 Asia's Dance Factory relocated to its own studio in Gary, IN. Extending the love of dance to her own childhood community where she grew up and went to school has been a full circle moment.

ADF traveled to competition in New Jersey, March 2019, and two students won scholarships to attend a summer intensive in NYC. During the summer of 2019 Asia was able to raise funds for travel and lodging to chaperone 3, 13yr old ADF students as they studied dance for two weeks at a Summer Intensive in New York City.

Currently, Asia is consistently expanding Asia's Dance Factory! Her most recent adventure has been traveling to Thailand to teach dance classes while remotely overseeing the competition dance team. In 2023 Asia plans to start a program connecting dancers to international travel and dance exchange.
